Comedy Open Mic Evening 3 Comics’ Info
JEEYA SETHI
Jeeya believes if you are fat once(by fat she means FAAAAT) you are fat forever, mentally you never become thin even after losing all the weight. An event manager turned stand-up comedian, improviser and actor. she has made entertainment her new life’s mission since nothing else is going for her!
ANIRBAN DASGUPTA
Anirban Dasgupta is a comedian, writer and full-time married person from Kolkata. Unsubstantiated reports claim that he is the hardest working Bengali in the world (other contenders were too lazy to contest). He is also a certified nice guy. And as if that is not enough, he is funny too. Now based out of Mumbai, he is also actively building the comedy scene in Kolkata.
In his three-year affair with stand-up, Anirban has performed extensively across the country, been featured as a ‘Best in Stand up’ act and has opened for the biggest stars, including Vir Das and Cyrus Barucha. We feel he married a tad too early but his wife thinks otherwise. Another inconsequential fact about Anirban is that he is an engineer.
Anirban has featured in over 400 shows, which include auditorium shows, college fests, corporate and private shows. He has been featured multiple times on NDTV Prime’s The Rising Stars of Comedy and by India Today, The Times of India, Mid-Day and The Telegraph amongst others.
PAVITRA SHETTY
Pavitra Shetty or ‘Pavvy’ as she prefers to be called for reasons of social acceptance is an engineer, infrequent gym-goer and hamburger enthusiast, all redeeming qualities for the average lukha, she just happens to be a girl.
In her sporadic affairs with stand-up comedy, Pavitra has floored audiences with her funny stories and crisp delivery. She has also won the Comedy Store Open Mic last year against 20 guys who badly need to get a job…or a life.
Her stand-up covers football, sibling rivalries and not being a size zero, all issues of national importance. Her signature finishing move is the Bear hug and her favorite quote is ‘Whatevah!’
EDWARD SONNENBLICK
After 15 years working as a chef, Edward immigrated to India from California eight years ago to seek his fortune in the magical world of Bollywood with just a weathered copy of Teach Yourself Hindi and dreams of being the next Tom Alter. Today, after a blur of small film roles, TV commercial appearances, and a two-year stint getting his ass kicked by a girl every night on that Jhansi ki Rani TV serial until she finally ran him over with her elephant, this man is now ready to make you laugh with his unique perspective on Mumbai and his still pretty crappy Hindi.
